Introduction and Background:
Farmers Development Organization (FDO) was founded in 1998
as a non-profit and non-governmental public interest organization. It is a
business registered under the Companies Act 2017 (formerly Section 42 of the
Companies Ordinance 1984). FDO works in Punjab using participatory methods to
help hundreds of peasants, women, and general communities in areas such as
livelihood, institutional development, emergency relief, community physical
infrastructure, gender-based violence prevention, and access to justice. The
group has a good track record of planning initiatives and then conducting
assessments of community concerns, as well as establishing and motivating local
volunteers to implement and monitor projects.
1. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES OF THE
CONSULTATION:
The European Union-funded CSO BRIDGE project has been executed in three
districts with three partners: the Thardeep Rural Development Program (TRDP) in
Hyderabad and the Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP).
WHH leads a consortium that includes the Farmers Development Organization (FDO)
in Multan and the District of Bahawalpur. The whole project time was 39 months,
from April 2021 to June 30th, 2024. FDO is working with 20 CSOs in District
Multan to implement the "Building Resilience through Improved Delivery and
Empowerment (BRIDGE) Program" (PAK-1108). Long-term capacity building for
civil society organizations and local governments (LAs), as well as support for
Tehsil Action Groups (TAGs) and District Civil Society Networks (DCSNs).
Our CSO BRIDGE program aims to
connect 20 CSOs from designated Union Councils between 2022 and 2023. Capacity
building included engaging CSOs and LAs in various activities, participating in
small projects, and counting self-initiatives that also support CSOs, prompting
WHH to consider a No-cost Extension (NCE) phase to extend capacity-building
processes and identifying improvements in CSO-Las (Local Authorities) linkages
involved in the interventions. During this sustainability period, NCE organized
and designed refresher training sessions/workshops for CSOs, TAGs, DCSNs, and
DDU. These group refresher training and seminars assist to reinforce and update
their knowledge and abilities, guaranteeing their continued effectiveness in
their professions. This constant capacity building contributes to the
preservation and enhancement of organizational competencies. This job will be
completed through CNA by reviewing the capacity-building plans of partner
CSO/CBO, Tehsil, and District Networks. The project can adapt its interventions
to meet the changing needs and priorities of the communities it serves.
Refresher training/sessions for these groups assist to reinforce and update
their knowledge and abilities, guaranteeing their continued effectiveness in
their roles. Finally, these activities help target groups build resilience and
self-sufficiency, allowing them to sustain their initiatives and drive good
community development even after the project is completed.
