About the Job 

In order to support the adoption of the Better Cotton Chain of Custody standard (mass balance and traceability models) in Pakistan and the Australasia region, Better Cotton is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join its Membership & Supply Chain team. The candidate will be based in the Better Cotton Pakistan Office in Lahore. The primary responsibilities of the Membership & Supply Chain Officer will be to teach and assist the team in providing service to both members and non-members in order to get them ready to source Better Cotton, as well as to onboard manufacturers and suppliers into the Better Cotton Chain of Custody Standard.  

The ideal applicant has prior experience working with stakeholders to engage in the textile supply chain and implementing new systems and processes. Traceability experience is a plus. We are looking for a service-oriented individual who can respond to new challenges, identify and assess problems, and actively help discover solutions because the role offers good prospects for professional development. 

The Senior Traceability Coordinator, Pakistan, will receive reports from this role. 

Your obligations and function 

We are looking for a driven Supply Chain and Membership Officer to join our team in Pakistan. In this position, your duties will include: 

Engage supply chain actors to assist the M&SC Coordinator in tracing the cotton supply chains that originate in Pakistan;  

Determine and map suppliers, particularly important buyers of lint, and communicate with them to facilitate their onboarding into the Better Cotton Platform and Chain of Custody; 

Organise workshops and other gatherings to collect local requirements for the Better Cotton supply chain mapping process. 

Getting ready to implement the new traceability and chain of custody model across Better Cotton's supply chain in Australia and the Far East Asia Region; 

executing the East Asian traceability roll-out plan, reporting on it, and closely monitoring newly onboarded supply chain participants; 

Provide country-level insights to facilitate the application of the global traceability assurance and integrity strategy;  

Work together with the worldwide compliance desk to ensure that registration forms and other pertinent documents are accurate and full; 

Answer prospective organisations' questions about Better Cotton membership as soon as possible;  

carry out the application process for organisations by gathering information, reviewing applications, consulting with them, and submitting them for approval;  

Under the direction of the Membership Manager for Pakistan and the world, assist in organising the yearly meeting of members and overseeing self-evaluation;  

To ensure Better Cotton, keep all details pertaining to Pakistani members and users correct and up to date in the CRM (Salesforce).

Skills, Knowledge and Experience   

Essential 

  • a university degree (supply chain or textile preferred) or an equivalent higher education credential in a related profession with a focus on sustainability  

  • Applicable two to three years of experience  

  • strong ability to involve stakeholders, particularly through facilitating workshops  

  • shown aptitude for prioritising activities, being organised, and effectively managing time  

  • Excellent communication abilities in both written and spoken English and Urdu, with the capacity to express ideas succinctly and clearly  

  • Self-starter, problem solver, and person who is at ease with uncertainty  

  • Availability to journey throughout Pakistan  

Desirable 

  • expertise in creating and executing training programs  

  • Understanding and enthusiasm for traceability  

  • Experience gained from working with a major retailer, brand, or textile supplier in their supply chain

Working arrangements 

The role will be headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, and will be full-time, requiring 40 hours per week. Better Cotton allows for flexible scheduling; its main business hours are from 10 am to 4 pm.If necessary, the job may demand travel both domestically and abroad.
